Kraken X61 does not cool
Hi, I purchased an NZXT G10 / X61 a few weeks ago and have had consistent issues with getting them to cool my GPU properly. I've tried unseating and re-seating the cooler on the GPU, I've tried reinstalling the operating system (twice!), I've completely removed everything from the motherboard and re-installing all hardware. My Geforce GTX 760 quickly heats to 85C within 10 seconds of any sort of load test.
I had also purchased an X41 and placed it on my CPU, but it appears CAM cannot properly distinguish between two different Kraken units. I submitted a ticket on support.next.com a couple weeks ago but never heard back. I've since returned the X41 and purchased a Corsair cooler instead. That's working like a champ.
The G20 / X61 was working briefly, but I think my motherboard decided it wanted to control the fan/cooler speed. When it took over fan control from CAM, that's when the heat issues started again. (That's also why I keep reinstalling the operating system.)
As of now, I have a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 installed. I've installed no software from my motherboard manufacturer and I have installed CAM. Although CAM indicates that my GPU's temperature is reaching 84-85C, the liquid temperature never goes above about 35C. Pump and fan RPM are normal (as in positive values, not at zero).
My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero. CAM identifies the X61, and the X61 responds to mode changes (ie fan increases when changed to performance mode).
I've tried calling NZXT support, and it directs me to "chat" on the website. I can't find chat anywhere on the website. I've tried submitting a support ticket, but that goes nowhere (2+ weeks without a response).
Help? Should I return the G20 / X61, too?
