PC hard Freezing using CAM Software
So about 5 weeks ago I built my new PC.
So I have been running windows 10, with booting cam on startup. And for weeks the freezing problem haunted me, I tried everything to figure it out from Memtest(over 16h) to endless benchmarking and stress testing software. Updating Bios, reformatting and pretty much updating every driver I could find. And recently I have not been starting cam on startup and my pc is fine, I can leave it on all week with no issues.
The freezes that I used to have however did not occur instantly, it could take a couple of hours before it would freeze but usually when I was ideling, like AFKing in a game or watching a series on my pc.
I am 100% sure that it is CAM software causing the freezing as I have not had a single freeze all week without using it. I did try turning it yesterday and boom a freeze after 2h.
With freeze I mean everything freezes and forces me to hard restart my pc (not the software freezing)
Here are my Specs :
Z170A GAMING M9 ACK
i7 6700k 4.0Ghz
32GB Corsair vengeance 2400Mhz
1TB samsung Evo 250
2TB Seagate HDD
Corsair HX1000i PSU
If you could figure out what causes this please. I really like the CAM software and want to use it again.
Hello, please try the latest update, version 3.6.6. We have made many improvements with that version and it is working better for many of our customers. If this issue continues to happen to you after updating, let us know so we can get in touch with you directly and figure out why. Sorry for the previous inconveniences, and thank you for your help.

i'm commenting just to say that i'll never ever buy nzxt stuff again until it's ridden of cam.
my x61 (and cam) worked flawlessly with windows 7 for years, then i installed w10 and there is no way in this universe to stop cam from crashing the system.
stop listening to nzxt support that is something "in our computers", there are hundreds of ppl complaining that cam crashes windows 10 based systems.
these comments go back years, which means that the underwhelming developing team hasn't been able (or willing) to find a fix after releasing dozens of new versions.
stop finding ways to make the cooler work as a spying device and start making it work like a cooler and you'll have my money.
I have the same problem. I just installed this dumb thing about 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been getting hard freeze anytime I try to open a game. I wish I could get my money back for it. I've also read that the pumps die on the liquid coolers after about a year. I was dooped my pretty lights and bought this POS.
With cam 3.7.7 running, I get 2 times hard freeze while gaming within 12 hours. The screen just freeze and totally no response when press anything even trying to launch task manager, forcing me to hard restart my pc.
Yup, I've isolated it to CAM software as well. I get plenty of pc crashes when it is running. I've been testing it out by turning it on and off, and my PC becomes belligerent with CAM running. Maybe CAM needs years to get this figured out, or maybe not, they already have our money.

CAM CREATORS ARE A SON OF A BITCH WITH HIS STUPID PROGRAM. 5 DAYS LOOKING FOR THE ORIGIN OF MY FREEZES AND WAS THAT STUPID PROGRAM.
I have CAM causing errors with BSOD, and when trying to tell support this they tried to say that it was my computer. The thing that I dont understand, is if it is my computer then why does it only happen when their software is installed onto my system?

I have the same issue. Computer works 100%, but when I open Cam, the lights all turn blue and 1-5 minutes later the monitors turn off, and have to unplug the thing. Very disappointed.
Still a problem. Running the app for about 30-90 seconds then both my monitors black screen and I have to reset my PSU block manually.
Confirmed still a problem. Black screen - need to reset back PSU power switch. I was running for 72 hours, started CAM, and 5 minutes later it crashed. I have since disabled on-startup launch.
I have spent the last hour troubleshooting my own issue and it's 100% the CAM software. When it runs, and I play a video online, it freezes the system, period. Latest version. My first experience with NZXT and it sucks.
I just downloaded the CAM software for the first time and it's freezing my system EVERY time I play a video with the light effects. This is not what I expect when dropping 130 bucks on a damn computer. Not to mention the fact that if I want better effects, I have to spend more. I think it's time for a change of venue.
Oh god even ver. 3.7.4 still have freezing issue LOL
Asus rog strix B-350f
Ryzen5 1600 stock cooler
16gb ram 2400mhz
CAM software is so broken!!!
re installed a few times with latest update and problem still persists! all i want to do is change the the colour on the pump :(
when i have CAM installed pc starts freezing
I'm starting to think is my issue too...I have just reinstalled WIndows..if nothing happens, I think it might be CAM soft...between this soft and Corsair's ICUE, is a nightmare, I even thought and tried multiple PSU. The freeze was exactly as the thread opner described.
I have experienced the exact issue with version 3.7.3 of CAM. Shortly after opening CAM my monitor turns black and there is nothing I can do than switching the PSU off and on again.
Its not the first issue i have with CAM but this is by far the worst. All I want is to control the lighting of my PC.
wow, wish I would have seen this. I recently RMA'd my new Ryzen 5 cpu because I just thought it was a bad CPU, I installed CAM on day one and had freezing exactly like all of you describe.
Umm any update on this issue? Is there are temp fix you can suggest NZXT??
Yep can confirm my system also experiences the exact same issue, tempted to take the cooler back to the retailer and ask for a refund.. I have to stop the software in order to stop the crashes. Incredibly frustrating!!! I'm running the latest version of the software as well v4.03 HID: 10.0.17134.1 (WINBUILD.160101.0800)
